Missed Opportunity for Wild as Hurricanes Storm Back

Looking for a third consecutive win, the Minnesota Wild twice held one-goal leads and managed to tie the game 3-3, only to see the Carolina Hurricanes respond strongly each time.

Game Summary

After a promising start in a challenging setting, the Hurricanes found answers to everything the Wild presented. Matt Boldy broke out of a scoring drought with two goals, while Brock Faber contributed his second goal of the season. Minnesota’s special teams continued their solid performance, but Carolina ultimately rallied to win 4-3.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t find a way to win the hockey game, but it was a hard-fought battle by both teams,” Wild coach John Hynes said. “They had pushes and surges, and we had pushes and surges. But, unfortunately, we weren’t the team to win it tonight.”

“This is a really good team we’re playing against, and we’re matching up against them pretty well today,” said Gustavsson, who noted he didn’t do anything specific to regain his footing later in the game.

Despite strong moments and multiple comebacks, the Wild were unable to secure a third straight win, showing resilience but ultimately falling short against the Hurricanes.
