Livinia Nixon to Leave 9News Melbourne Weather Role

After two decades as Melbourne's beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from her position on 9News Melbourne. She first joined the Nine Network in 1997 and started presenting the weather on 9News Melbourne in 2004.

Reason for Departure

Livinia decided to leave the weather desk to spend more time with her family, as her sons are now in their senior years of schooling. Her final weather broadcast will be on Tuesday, 18 November.

Future Plans

Though she is stepping away from weather presenting, Livinia will remain part of the Nine Network, continuing her roles on popular travel shows such as Getaway and Postcards.

Livinia Nixon's Statement

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.

Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’

I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”

Livinia’s decision marks the end of a significant chapter in Melbourne television, balancing a long career with family commitments while maintaining her presence on other beloved programs.

Summary: After 20 years as 9News Melbourne's weather presenter, Livinia Nixon is stepping down to support her sons in high school, but will continue presenting on Nine’s travel shows Getaway and Postcards.
