Livinia Nixon takes bright long-range outlook with her on new chapter

Livinia Nixon Embraces New Chapter with Optimism

Livinia Nixon, the beloved weather presenter known for beginning her on-air career on Hey Hey, It’s Saturday, will continue appearing on the travel programs Postcards and Getaway.

After 20 years of delivering the weather, Nine’s long-time presenter will sign off from the weeknight weather role this month. “I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,” Nixon, 50, said with a laugh following the announcement on Friday afternoon. “I’m looking forward to a breather.”

Although stepping back from nightly broadcasts, Nixon will remain with Nine, still featuring on travel shows.

Reason for Stepping Down

Nixon decided to end her weeknight weather updates to dedicate more time to her family. Her youngest child, Ted, is about to begin high school alongside his older brother, Henry. “Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she explained.

“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum’.”

Memorable On-Air Moment

One standout weather segment was broadcast live from Healesville Sanctuary, where Nixon had a green tree python draped around her neck. The snake tightened its grip and even tried to slither inside her jacket, prompting her to say, “I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life.”
