The Han River Bus is set to restart service tomorrow, beginning with its first departure at 9:00 a.m. The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced the return after a month of extensive preparations and safety checks.
To strengthen passenger safety and operational efficiency, the city has implemented the My Ship system, assigning each crew member to a specific vessel. Only captains who have undergone more than three months of training will participate in regular operations.
According to the Seoul authorities on October 31, a month-long trial phase without passengers was carried out to gather operational data, stabilize performance, and enhance crew proficiency. More than 300 trial runs were performed, covering docking, undocking, and navigating under bridges—simulating actual service conditions.
During the test operations, three minor accidents took place. The government emphasized that these incidents stemmed from operational inexperience rather than mechanical issues or environmental factors.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government stated that the identified issues have been corrected and do not hinder the official resumption of operations.
