200 Mohalla Clinics Reportedly Shut Down: Bharadwaj Criticizes Delhi Government

Saurabh Bharadwaj, president of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi unit, accused the Rekha Gupta-led administration of retracting its commitment to maintain welfare programs initiated by AAP. He claimed about 200 Mohalla Clinics have been closed throughout the capital.

During a protest held outside the Kalkaji Mohalla Clinic, Bharadwaj expressed concern that the current government is rolling back essential public welfare initiatives. He highlighted that despite earlier assurances from senior BJP figures, initiatives like the Mohalla Clinics were being discontinued.

“We are outside the Kalkaji Mohalla Clinic. Arvind Kejriwal had said before the elections that if the BJP formed a government in Delhi, they would close all Mohalla Clinics and halt welfare services for the poor,” Bharadwaj said.
“The BJP’s top leadership told Delhi residents they would keep these services running, yet around 200 clinics are now closed. Free bus rides for women will also end soon,” he added.

Background

The Mohalla Clinic program was one of AAP’s flagship initiatives aimed at providing accessible primary healthcare across Delhi’s neighborhoods. Its reported rollback has sparked criticism from AAP leaders and concern among residents who benefited from these services.

Author’s Summary: Bharadwaj accuses the Delhi government of dismantling key welfare schemes, particularly the Mohalla Clinics, despite BJP’s earlier assurances to the public.
