Season 1 Finale Recap

The first season of FX’s noir series The Lowdown, created by Sterlin Harjo, ended explosively as the mystery around Dale Washberg’s (Tim Blake Nelson) death was solved by Tulsa’s local “trusthstorian,” Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke).

The episode, “The Sensitive Kind,” continued immediately after the previous one, with Lee chasing businessman Frank (Tracy Letts) into the One Well Church led by Mark Russell (Paul Sparks). While inside, Lee realized he was in danger among neo-Nazis.

Marty (Keith David) then appeared, claiming he was undercover and took Lee into custody. Although they quickly escaped in Lee’s van, Marty was grazed by a bullet as the One Well group pursued them with guns drawn.

Consequences of Lee’s Actions

Despite their escape, Lee faced fallout when artist Chutto (Mato Wayuhi) broke his shop window in retaliation for his grandfather Arthur’s (Graham Greene) death. This was triggered unknowingly after Lee contacted Betty Jo (Jeanne Tripplehorn), who sent Frank to find Dale’s lost will.

“Moments after Lee had chased Akron businessman Frank into the One Well Church helmed by Mark Russell, Marty entered the space and claimed he was undercover and taking Lee into custody.”
“While the men ultimately got away, Lee faced the consequences of his actions when artist Chutto broke his shop window in retaliation for his grandfather Arthur’s death.”
