I can share what’s known about Artemis 1 up to now.
- Artemis 1 was NASA’s uncrewed test flight that orbited the Moon as the first integrated test of the Space Launch System (SLS) and the Orion spacecraft. It aimed to validate deep-space mission capabilities ahead of crewed flights.[3]
- The mission successfully launched in November 2022 after some delays and then completed its flight, paving the way for future Artemis missions including Artemis II (crewed) and beyond.[4][3]
- Since Artemis 1, NASA has continued with Artemis program milestones, including further plans for lunar exploration infrastructure and subsequent missions. For the latest, check NASA’s Artemis news pages and credible space-news outlets for the most recent updates on Artemis II and subsequent missions.[10][3]
If you’d like, I can pull the latest, most current news summaries from NASA and major outlets and provide a concise timeline of Artemis program milestones with links.

Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman this week shared an amazing clip of 'Earthset' that he shot with his iPhone while he and the crew aboard the Orion space capsule named Integrity made a flyby of the moon. It was the first time such a view has been recorded on video during a crewed mission. 'Only one chance in this lifetime,' Wiseman wrote in a post on X. 'Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn't resist a cell phone video of Earthset.'
