Latest News About Stonehenge survey reveals

Updated 2026-06-17 21:15

Stonehenge continues to reveal landscape context from recent surveys, the identification of 16 pits nearby dated to more than 4000 years ago, DNA from sediments indicating animals such as cattle. The findings come from fieldwork spanning about 12 km2 around the monument, with boreholes used to sample features no longer visible on the surface. The results refine the timeline of human activity in the surrounding area. A large Neolithic context identified in the Stonehenge landscape underscores continued archaeological work surrounding the site.
