Andrew A. Weissmann is a seasoned American attorney and professor who has had a distinguished career in law enforcement and prosecution. As the chief of the DOJ Fraud Section from 2015 to 2017, he led the team responsible for investigating and prosecuting white-collar crimes. He later joined Robert Mueller's Special Counsel team in 2017 as a lead prosecutor, where he played a key role in investigating Russian interference in the 2016 elections. Prior to his time with Mueller, Weissmann served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York from 1991 to 2002, where he prosecuted notable cases involving organized crime, including the violent Vincenza Gambino crime family. After his time with Mueller, Weissmann joined the faculty of NYU Law, where he teaches and continues to contribute to the field of law enforcement and prosecution.
